The 30th annual Red Steagall Annual Cowboy Gathering took place in the Fort Worth Stockyards over the weekend and our own Justin McKee had a chance to catch up with the legend himself.
One of the biggest draws every year is the Ranch Rodeo which featured 14 teams competing in Maverick Branding, Wild Cow Milking, Saddle Bronc Riding and more.
“What the ranch rodeo does is show off the skills of the working cowboy,” Steagall said. “Here, we saw what they do every do for a living.”
Steagall said more people turned out this year than ever before and he was proud to be able to show people from all over the country the Western lifestyle and the Fort Worth Stockyards.
“I think everybody was ready to get out and do something different,” he said. “There’s a lot of activity on this end of town and activity breeds activity. I think a lot of people came to see what it was all about and they are pleased with it.”
