On Western Sports Roundup, we caught up with rookie bareback riders, Owen Brouillette and Cole Hollen.
The two traveling partners are hitting the rodeo road hard this season, with big goals of making their first National Finals Rodeo, as well as one of them hopefully taking home the Resistol Rookie of the Year title.
As is stands, Brouillette sits in the number three spot in the rookie standings with $18,315 in season earnings, while Hollten is close behind in fourth with $15,657.
“This year’s been going good,” Hollen remarked. “I feel good about it, everyone wishes it could go better at some places, but you know I couldn’t ask for anything more and just to be in this spot, I’m really excited for the summer run and to get everything rolling.”
This year’s rookie class of bareback riders is stacked with talent, and while Brouillette and Hollen are just outside the top spot, they know the race is far from over.
“There’s definitely a lot of money to be won,” Brouillette noted. “It’s not over till October 1st so I try not to look at the standings too much, neither one of us, we just try to go do our job and let them pay us what they will and see how it all shakes out.”
