The PBR World Finals are coming up over the next two weekends. It all begins with Eliminations and the Ride for Redemption in Fort Worth before a new World Champion is crowned in Arlington.
The cowboys only make up half of the score, the bull power is the other half and there are three rank bulls in a race of their own.
Five Star Ranch’s Mike’s Magic is the No. 3 bull in the running for Bull of the Year. He averages a 45.41 point score with eight buckoffs and zero qualified rides.
“When a bull comes in and is averaging above 45 points, you know they have met that gold standard. You know, it’s going to be tough for these guys to take this one on,” West said.
Fast Flow of Outlaw is No. 2 in the Bull of the Year race. With a 100% buckoff rate with 12 attempted rides this season, Fast Flow averages 45.63 points.
The No. 1 bull on the list going into PBR World Finals is Jane Clark and Gene Owen’s Man Hater. Only three cowboys have made it to the whistle and this did so on a bull that averages 46.04 points.
“The power, the kick. You can see it right there. The numbers don’t lie. Yeah, they’ve ridden this bull a couple of times. But, guess what? They rode Whoopa a couple of times. There was a guy named JB Mauney that rode a bull called Bushwacker that nobody thought would ride and that’s what this sport is all about,” he said.
It is as big a race for the bulls as it is for the bull riders. Champions will be crowned come May 17-18 at AT&T Stadium.
