Texas barrel racer Ryann Pedone joined Western Sports Roundup this week ahead of the highly anticipated Women’s Rodeo World Championship (WRWC), currently underway.
Pedone, who is ranked 4th on the Pro Barrel Racing Leaderboard, is aiming to secure her spot at AT&T Stadium, where she’ll have the chance to compete for a $60,000 payday.
A seasoned competitor, Pedone has built an impressive resume, riding in futurities, the Ruby Buckle series, the WRWC, and the National Finals Rodeo. Last year, she entered the WRWC at AT&T Stadium as the top seed and is determined to make her return to the iconic venue.
Having witnessed the evolution of barrel racing firsthand, Pedone reflects on how far the sport has come, from simply training horses to competing for life-changing prize money.
“It’s a blessing to be in the industry at this moment in time,” Pedone shared. “There’s been a lot of groundwork laid before us to get it here.”
