Jake Holmes Holds Early Lead of Resistol Rookie Race in the Steer Wrestling

With over $11,600 won so far this season, Holmes is off to an early lead is the Resistol Rookie race.

Jake Holmes of Mulberry, Kansas is making waves in the 2025 Resistol Rookie race for steer wrestling, currently leading the standings with just over $11,600, nearly double that of the second place rookie.

At just 19 years old, Holmes has already seen much success through junior and youth rodeo, and he is ready to take the professional ranks by storm as the summer run quickly approaches.

This season, Holmes is hitting the road with good company, traveling alongside 6x NFR qualifier Will Lummus and 11x NFR qualifier Dakota Eldridge. The experience to travel with the best in the game is both motivating and confidence boosting for the young bulldogger.

“No pressure, but it definitely boosts the confidence,” Holmes noted. “You want everybody in the truck to win, and you want to be right there winning with them. I want to help them as much as I can.”
