With the Texas Swing and California Run complete, the standings are taking shape before the busy season kicks off.
Kassie Mowry is still the only cowgirl to surpass six figures, and she has done it with the least amount of rodeos in the Top 15. Tricia Aldridge and her palomino stallion, Adios Pantalones, have made big moves in the last few weeks.
The Top 15 is rounded out with a fan favorite that has been away from the Top 15 for the last few years.
No. 1 Kassie Mowry, $131,644
A healthy Texas Swing is all Mowry needed to be on top going into the Summer Run. Winning RodeoHouston and San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo while placing at every other has her with a substantial lead.
No. 2 Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi, $89,260
Pozzi-Tonozzi’s horsepower has gone international for some rodeos and others, she is partnered with stock contractor Pete Carr on a quick gray. Her most recent trip to the pay window came in San Angelo when she finished sixth in the Average.
No. 3 Andrea Busby, $60,841
Busby had a phenomenal showing at every stop during the Texas Swing. Rodeo Austin was her most recent payday when she finished fourth in the Finals, even after hitting a barrel.
No. 4 Megan McLeod-Sprague, $55,226
Big checks from the Texas Swing are what have McLeod-Sprague inside the Top 5 but a third-place finish at the High Desert Stampede added $3,000 to her name.
No. 5 Tricia Aldridge, $50,482
Aldridge and Adio have hit their stride. With four wins in the month of April alone, they made a run for the Top 5 to land exactly there. Three of those wins came on the California run, and the highest paying of the four came in Nevada. A 16.93 was enough for the Clark County Fair and Rodeo win that paid $8,087.
No. 6 Hailey Kinsel, $45,857
Two Go-Round wins in Houston and a fourth-place finish in Round 1 of San Angelo capped the Texas Swing for Kinsel. At the Red Bluff Round-Up, Kinsel finished third in the Average after two 17.6’s sent her to the pay window for each Go-Round.
No. 7 Wenda Johnson, $40,845
Johnson picked up two needed wins in the first two days of May. A 15.43 at the American Royal Rodeo was worth over $3,000, while it was a standard pattern at the Guymon Pioneer Days Rodeo, and a 17.31 that cinched Johnson the win.
No. 8 Emily Beisel, $40,466
While Beisel’s fan-favorite gray is sidelined with an injury, she has made sure to keep up the pace. An arsenal of horses helped Beisel cinch checks in Oklahoma and New Mexico to kick start May with over $3,000.
No. 9 Julie Plourde, $37,734
Plourde is a two-year veteran this season, and she is hitting paydays in all the right places. Her most recent check came from a fourth-place finish at the Guymon Pioneer Days Rodeo after a 17.53-second run.
No. 10 Leslie Smalygo, $37,472
Smalygo and Gus are loving the first outdoor pens of the season. The duo cashed in on a Go-Round win at the Red Bluff Round-Up and a fifth-place finish in the Average. They also racked up $4,207 with a second-place finish at the Guymon Pioneer Days Rodeo.
No. 11 Hayle Gibson-Stillwell, $35,284
The West Coast has been good to Gibson-Stillwell. Wins in Oregon, Nevada, and California have her inching up the standings. She picked up a win at the inaugural Desert Rodeo with a 15.71 after she hustled for a win at the long-standing High Desert Stampede.
No. 12 Alyssa Urbanek-Wade, $33,647
After a second-place finish in San Angelo to round out Urbanek-Wade’s Texas Swing, she added one more Texas win to her name. A 15.31-second run at the Henderson County First Responders PRCA Rodeo was good enough for the win.
No. 13 Stephanie Fryar, $33,345
Success in Denver, Fort Worth, and Houston gave Fryar the momentum for April. She picked up a check at the ABC Pro Rodeo before a win came her way at the Kingsman Andy Devine PRCA Rodeo in Arizona.
No. 14 Carlee Otero, $33,293
Otero’s success in Denver and Fort Worth carries most of the weight in her current earnings as March came with no checks and in April she earned one. A second-place finish at the Kingsman Andy Devine PRCA Rodeo was good enough for $758.
No. 15 Fallon Taylor, $32,636
Taylor is back and on a mission, this time, with a mare she calls Puma. They have been racking up little wins in a big way as she now sits just inside the Top 15. Her latest success came at the Pioneer Days Rodeo in New Mexico thanks to a 15.84-second run.
