It looked like Round 1 was going to belong to Sue Smith at the Cinch Playoffs Governor’s Cup until Emily Beisel and Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi came along and stopped the clock at 13.95 seconds to best Smith’s 13.96.
The two also shared the arena record.
“I’m just so fortunate to be able to ride Titan, I’ve never run him in this small of a setup and it was pretty cool to come here and get ready for Vegas and break the record the first night,” Pozzi Tonozzi said. “So now, from here on out, it’s just fun.”
Pozzi Tonozzi and Beisel rank No. 1 and No. 7 in the WPRA World Standings respectively and each won $8,750.
