Several cowboys cleared $12,000 in prize money at the St. Paul Rodeo, which had the highest payout of any Fourth of July event in 2022.

Kaycee Feild got the bareback riding started with a bang during the first performance when he tied the arena record on Four Star’s Big Star. Cole Reiner, who made more than $20,000 over the Fourth, was second.

In the two-head steer wrestling, Blake Knowles placed in both rounds and claimed the title with an aggregate time of 8.2 seconds on two. Eight-time NFR qualifier Dakota Eldridge was two tenths behind him in second.

Kaleb Driggers/Junior Nogueira were the champs in the team roping. Throughout Cowboy Christmas, the pair won checks of more than $1,000 on nine of their 11 rodeos and were named The Cowboy Channel’s Timed Event Athletes of the Week.

World No. 1 Sage Newman continued to impress in the saddle bronc riding by teaming up with Sankey Pro Rodeo & Phenom Genetics’ Pendleton Roundup’s Marquee for 89 points to add another win to his 2022 resume. He now leads the PRCA World Standings by more than $40,000.

In tie-down roping, reigning World Champion Caleb Smidt held off a star-studded leaderboard that included 2019 World Champion Haven Meged, 2022 CNFR Champion Kincade Henry and 2013 World Champion Shane Hanchey. Smidt was 16.3 seconds on two.

In the one-head barrel race, Katie Pascoe was 17.42 seconds to take home close to $11,000.

And in bull riding, Hayes Wright was 91 in the rodeo’s final performance to snag the win. Trey Kimzey was second with a 90.5.
