Tie-Down Roper Shane Hanchey Tastes Success at Clovis Rodeo

Shane Hanchey’s trip to Clovis Rodeo so far has been nothing short of exciting. The World Champion Tie-Down Roper won Round 1, finished second in Round 2 and set the pace for Round 3 during Thursday night’s performance.

“It’s much needed… it’s been a trying winter but I’ve got a good support group and I’m starting to click with that horse, especially this type of set up so I think I’m really looking forward to this summer,” he said.

Hanchey bought Bugsy right before the 2022 National Finals Rodeo and says it has been a tough transition for both of them but it all started to click on March 11 and the excitement for the summer run is building.

Hanchey has three performances to go in Clovis but he currently leads Round 3 and the average in California.
