Carlee and Michael Otero Find Success at Utah Days of ’47 Rodeo

The Utah Days of ’47 Rodeo proved to be a big win for the Otero family, with Carlee capturing the gold medal in barrel racing and Michael earning the silver in tie down roping.

Carlee not only took the barrel racing title and a paycheck of over $19,000, but she also set a new arena record with a lightning fast run of 16.70 seconds. At the start of the 2025 rodeo season, she added two new horses, Regina and Twix, to her team, both of whom have already delivered impressive performances. Carlee rode Regina in both rounds at the Days of ’47, and the duo proved unbeatable.

On the tie down side of things, Michael brought home more than $17,000 during the duration of the event in Salt Lake City. In an interesting twist, he drew the same calf he has roped earlier in the week, an advantage that contributed to his second place finish.

The husband and wife team makes it a point to travel together, and there’s nothing more rewarding than the whole family leaving a rodeo with a win.
