Payson, Arizona’s Western Culture Lives on Through Rodeo

Payson, Arizona is home to two professional rodeos, the Gary Hardt Memorial, and the World’s Oldest Continuous Rodeo.

Tom Morrissey, the Mayor of Payson, and John Landino, Payson Pro Rodeo Committee Member, emphasize the importance of Western culture in Payson and the significance these rodeos have in keeping the tradition alive.

“We pride ourselves on the two big events of the year and they’re both rodeo events”, Mayer Morrissey says.

The Gary Hardt Memorial took place this past weekend and was a great success as many big names in rodeo participating.

The World’s Oldest Continuous Rodeo is considered to be the oldest in America, going on its 139th year in August.
