For rodeo announcer Randy Corley, family roots run deep at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo.
Hadley Barrett was his father-in-law and best friend who he got to work the San Antonio Rodeo with for 25 years.
One of the most memorable and special things that Barrett did was pray on the dirt before kicking off the action in San Antonio. Although this year, he was not there, they left some footprints in the dirt to honor his memory.
“I just think it’s about as awesome as you can get. They don’t let that memory go because he’s that good,” Corley said.
Barrett influenced many careers including Wayne Brooks. Brooks said Barrett had a way of making people feel like he was their grandpa by the time they left the rodeo. It is one of many things that Brooks says he was honored to witness and learn from.
Barrett’s memory lives on in San Antonio.
