Blake Knowles jumped to the lead the Average in St. Paul after a 3.8 second run in Round 2 brought his aggregate time to 8.2 seconds on two head. He beat out second place finisher Dakota Eldridge by two tenths of a second to win the rodeo.
After his run, which ended up splitting second in the round, Knowles said how much fun he is having beginning the summer run.
“This rodeo is amazing the energy is awesome and it’s so much fun to do well in front of the crowd. I had a steer that I had watched go a few weeks ago, I knew he had a lot of action. It’s a tough steer wrestling.”
Before his run, Knowles was working his horse, who he has raised from the beginning.
“It’s rewarding to take one from the very beginning and then be able to put him on this stage and see him succeed. I was down towards the bottom so I just wanted to get on him a little bit and re-warm him up. I am excited to see how it goes with him this summer.”
Knowles earned over $8,000 at the rodeo to help him jump 11 spots in the PRCA World Standings over Fourth of July.
