Exmark Roughstock Athlete of the Week: Cooper Cooke’s San Angelo Success Moves Him to No. 1 in the World

Cooper Cooke swept the bareback riding in San Angelo and it came with just enough to take over the lead.

Bareback rider Cooper Cooke wrapped up the Texas Swing and put a bow on it. He concluded the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo as the Champion making him your Exmark Roughstock Athlete of the Week.

Cooke’s Long Round win came to the tune of 88.5 points on Korkow Rodeo’s Buffalo Soldier. The young Korkow Rodeos horse made his second out of the season according to Stock Stats and Cooke flashed up the bay bronc to set the bar in Performance 2. He waited eight performances to get the Long Round win and advance to the Finals.

In the Final Round, Cooke drew veteran bronc and a multi-National Finals Rodeo selection of Pickett Pro Rodeo’s, Night Gazer. The two settled a score of 88.5 points at the buzzer and it brought Cooke’s score on two head to 177 points.

Cooke ran away with the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo title by three and half points and cashed in on over $17,000. He is now the No. 1 ranked bareback rider in the PRCA, taking over the lead from Leighton Berry by just $1,000.

Idaho’s Cooke is gunning for his first NFR qualification this year after finishing just outside the Top 20 in 2023. So far this 2024 season he has picked up a Wilderness Circuit Finals win along with winning the Brawley Cattle Call Rodeo. However, adding the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo title to his season accolades as made him your Exmark Roughstock Athlete of the Week.
