WPRA Athlete of the Week Wenda Johnson claims the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo Title with $20,984 in earnings

As she currently sits inside the Top 5 of the WPRA World Standings, Wenda Johnson’s 2024 season has been nothing short of spectacular. Johnson’s most recent success took place in San Angelo where the Oklahoma cowgirl swept the competition and earned the title of Montana Silversmiths WPRA Athlete of the Week.

Johnson started off strong as she made her way through the pattern in a swift 15.66 seconds to claim first-place in Round 1 and set the pace for the remainder of the rodeo.

The compeition grew stronger in Round 2 as Johnson split second-place with Tiany Schuster as the cowgirls each turned in a 14.05-second run.

Johnson’s third and final run of 14.29 seconds placed her at No. 7 on the leader board, bringing her aggregate time to 44.00 seconds on three head to claim the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo Title.

Johnson picked up a check for a total of $20,984 to close out the Texas Swing as she works towards her fifth National Finals Rodeo qualification.
