Westyn Hughes is coming off his third NFR qualification after finishing 11th in the PRCA World Standings. Hughes is ready to hit the road this season after taking some time off to reset.
“I put a lot in trying to get ready for the NFR so kind of a little reset. Not really a break, I’ve been practicing as much as I can. I’m giving my horses the break they needed.”
Looking back to his NFR performance, Hughes says it was a bit of a mixed bag of results.
“I didn’t win as much as I wanted to... Could have roped better but also could have roped a lot worse.”
Hughes is heading into his ninth full-time season in the PRCA and is aiming for his best yet.
“I really need to get my catch percentage up. My horse is working great, and just work on some stuff with me and have my best year yet.”
