Tim O’Connell Gets Round Win in San Antonio

It was the eliminator pen in San Antonio, and Tim O’Connell took advantage, going 87 points on Calgary Stampede’s Twin Cherry for the round win Round 2 of Bracket 3. O’Connell’s ride won him a check of $2,500 and put him in an excellent spot to advance to the Semifinals in San Antonio.

After the ride, O’Connell said, “I really like these kinds of horses, the eliminators for me get my motor running. My motor runs high anyways so it really brings the dog out in me and it is kind of a kill or be killed mentality.”

TIM O’CONNELL’S POINT RIDE

When O’Connell first saw the draw he wasn’t sure how he felt, but that changed once he saw the rest of the pen, knowing he had a great horse.

“Calgary had most of the pen and that is what Calgary horses are, they come down from the great north and they are big and strong. They have their winter hair on and they are ready for a fight after a month off.”

O’Connell will compete once more on Wednesday night in hopes to advance to the Semifinals.
