Tristan Himes Sets A Record At Fort Worth Stock Show While Carrying On Family’s Winning Tradition

The Grand Champion steer set a record at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo this past week. Tristan Himes sold his steer, Steve, for $310,000.

“It’s truly unbelievable. It’s never been done before and I’m just so so luck and so thankful that I got to be the one to do it,” Himes said.

Himes has been showing for nine years and gave thanks to his team that has been giving 100% right long side him. To make it even sweeter, Himes followed in his mother’s footsteps. His mother, Kody Horwood at the time, had the Grand Champion steer at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo in 1984.

“Boy, this one is a hard one to get and it will bring tears to your eyes,” Kody said.
