With runs of 8.0 seconds and 8.3 seconds on Thursday, defending National Western tie-down roping champion Adam Gray is now tied for first in the Average with 2019 World Champion Haven Meged.
“I just want to give the glory to God, that calf was exceptional, he was pretty soft and I knew I was going to have give a little more than some of the other calfs,” he said. “I’d sure like to drive home with it being successful year (at the National Western).
Gray is also tied for third in Round 1 and 12th for Round 2.
Other leaders in the Average at the National Western heading into the Thursday, Jan. 20 performances are Cole Franks in the bareback riding, Dustin Egusquiza/Travis Graves in team roping, CoBurn Bradshaw in saddle bronc riding, Tristan Martin in steer wrestling, Josh Frost in bull riding and Shannon McReynolds in barrel racing.
