Haven Meged Currently Leads the Tie-Down Roping at National Western Stock Show and Rodeo

Haven Meged took over the tie-down roping lead at the National Western in Denver on Sunday afternoon and so far, that lead has held.

Meged had times of 8.0 seconds and 8.3 seconds which puts him in the Top 10 in both rounds and atop the Average. The next closest cowboy to him is Blake Chauvin at 16.6 seconds. After that, Taylor Santos and Kincade Henry are tied for third at 16.8 seconds.

“That was a great calf,” he said after his Round 2 run. “I just knew I needed to be smart because all of the money in the semifinals and the Short Round, so I just tried to be smart and make sure I get back.”

Other leaders in the Average at the National Western heading into the Tuesday, Jan. 18 performance are Cole Franks in the bareback riding, Don Payne in steer wrestling, Dustin Egusquiza/Travis Graves in team roping, CoBurn Bradshaw in saddle bronc riding, Josh Frost in bull riding and Shannon McReynolds in barrel racing.
