On Saturday, Rhen Richard and Jeremy Buhler won the Pendleton Round-Up to put away any doubts that one or both of them would not be competing in Vegas at this year’s Wrangler NFR.
Rhen Richard entered the Pendleton Round-Up in the heart of the bubble as the 15th-ranked header in the World Standings and his partner Jeremy Buhler was on the outside looking as the No. 18 heeler.
Richard and Buhler were solid throughout, placing fifth and sixth in the first two rounds before going 6 seconds flat to take third in the Short Round and finish with an aggregate time of 17.1 seconds on two. The win paid out $13,176 total to both cowboys, shooting Richard to No. 9 and Buhler to No. 10 in the world.
“The last couple of months, we’ve been making consistent runs and kind of staying to our plan and it’s been working good so we’re excited,” Richard said. “Everybody wants to win Pendleton.”
“He gave three steers in a row, that just stood up, a pretty safe feeling,” Buhler added.
