Shad Mayfield on what’s next for him this rodeo season

In his first career trip to Redmond, Oregon, Shad Mayfield won the tie-down roping with a time of 8.0 seconds and he did so on a horse he had never competed on before.

With the win, the 2020 World Champion earned almost $5,000 and sits in third in the world standings with $28,491.

Mayfield said that because of his good start he is going to stick to going to all of the bigger rodeos he can. The 20-year-old is looking forward to San Angelo because it will be held with 100 percent capacity, something Mayfield missed a lot.

“It’s just different roping without a crowd or anything,” he said. “It’s just like having a slack in a perf.”
