Stetson Wright Talks Family and Looks Back at Ky Hamilton’s Journey to a Gold Buckle

Stetson Wright and Ky Hamilton are more like brothers who now have matching Gold Buckles

For Stetson Wright, family is everything.

Wright’s daughter, Kingsley, is a part of a silver lining of Wright’s sidelining injury. He will get to spend more time with her, although the brace might slow him down just a little.

“She doesn’t understand why on earth I would let a bull hurt me, why I’d let a doctor cut on me, anything. She’s kind of confused on everything I’m doing but I’ll get to go to all of her sporting events and rodeos,” Wright said.

When he is not at home with Kingsley, Wright just might be down south in Texas with his best friend and traveling partner, Ky Hamilton. The two’s friendship was rock solid before but the 2023 National Finals Rodeo showed just how close Wright and Hamilton are.

After getting knocked out in Round 5 and leaving the arena on a stretcher to riding his Round 6 and Round 7 bulls in the same day to cash in $115,000, Wright was there to help Hamilton weigh his options. That included being on board with Hamilton’s mother’s thoughts of laying low as well as knowing that his traveling partner was more than capable of riding the two bulls he had the next day.

“He showed up that next day and he had some fire in his eye. When he walked in the locker room, we got him from the hospital and brought him there and you could see that he was ready to win. Every World Champion story is different and there’s a meaning behind all of them but this one was pretty awesome to be a part of and watch... I was sure glad to watch him walk out of the Thomas and Mack with a Gold Buckle,” Wright said.

They’re two best friends with Gold Buckles and stories to last a lifetime and they are just getting started.
