Sankey Pro Rodeo and Phenom Genetics has a star bronc in their herd. Black Tie has an unbelievable comeback story and has been named Pendleton Whisky’s Let ‘er Buck Saddle Bronc Horse of the Year.
“He’s a showstopper, you know. He’s out there giving it his all, he’s flashy, everybody loves it, and he’s going to give you a chance to win no matter what,” said four-time National Finals Saddle Bronc rider Chase Brooks.
Black Tie is loved by cowboys, if you ask World Champion Wade Sundell, he is a bronc that has the wow factor.
During the 2021 Cheyenne Frontier Days, Black Tie suffered what many thought would be a career ending injury. Wade Sankey, however, thought differently. He reached out to Caleb Lund with Lund Equine in Billings, Montana.
Lund determined it was a stifle injury and they started with Cortisone shots that didn’t last long. The next option was surgery, and this would be a first for a bucking horse. It was a great surgery and Black Tie was easy going through the process.
Black Tie spent the rest of the 2021 season resting and recovering to make the comeback of a lifetime in 2022 before being named 2022 and 2023 Saddle Bronc Horse of the Year.
“Most people would’ve turned it out and let it have its retirement and just eat grass. This one wanted to come back and show off,” said Sundell.
Black Tie set a precedent when he came back stronger, more powerful and better than ever. The Sankey Pro Rodeo and Phenom Genetic bronc will be one to watch for years to come.
