Defending Champion Tim O’Connell Splits Round 2 To Take Pool A Lead in Calgary

Tim O’Connell was second in Pool A, Round 1 and split the win in Round 2 with R.C. Landingham and Clint Laye to take the lead through two of four qualifying rounds at The Calgary Stampede.

All three cowboys were marked 86 points.

“I was determined to get pay back on that horse (Rum Flavoured),” O’Connell said. “Me and that horse had a lot of history when I was younger and I told my wife, he’s never tied off to a Tim O’Connell that knows what he’s doing, so he beat me up a lot...So it was good to get it back today.”

O’Connell has made $9,000 through two performances and right behind him is R.C. Landingham with $8,000. Clayton Biglow, the winner of Round 1, sits third with $5,500.

The Top 4 cowboys in the pool based on money earned advance to Championship Sunday on July 17. The Calgary Stampede continues daily through that date and you can watch it all live or on-demand on The Cowboy Channel and PRCA on Cowboy Channel+.
