Dona Kay Rule and Valor put together the fastest run of The Calgary Stampede in Round 2 as the barrel race got faster on Saturday afternoon.
Rule stopped the clock at 17.54 seconds, Stevi Hillman came in at 17.55 and defending champion Bertina Olafson was third with a 17.61, meaning three times bested Emily Beisel’s Round 1 winning 17.62.
“I missed (this) so badly, the couch is no place for me,” Rule, who recently returned from hip surgery, said. “We love the wide open spaces and Canada has been incredible.”
Rule has opened up a lead of $3,000 in the pool and she has made $10,000 through the first two performances.
Top 4 cowgirls in the pool based on money earned advance to Championship Sunday on July 17. The Calgary Stampede continues daily through that date and you can watch it all live or on-demand on The Cowboy Channel and PRCA on Cowboy Channel+.
