Dona Kay Rule Wins Round 2, Takes Lead in Pool A Barrel Racing at Calgary Stampede

Dona Kay Rule and Valor put together the fastest run of The Calgary Stampede in Round 2 as the barrel race got faster on Saturday afternoon.

Rule stopped the clock at 17.54 seconds, Stevi Hillman came in at 17.55 and defending champion Bertina Olafson was third with a 17.61, meaning three times bested Emily Beisel’s Round 1 winning 17.62.

“I missed (this) so badly, the couch is no place for me,” Rule, who recently returned from hip surgery, said. “We love the wide open spaces and Canada has been incredible.”

Rule has opened up a lead of $3,000 in the pool and she has made $10,000 through the first two performances.
