California Rodeo Salinas is Rich in its History

California Rodeo Salinas started as a wild west show in 1911. That wild west show continued into the early 1940’s when they built their first set of wooden grandstands. The grandstands lasted 40 years before it came time to build a new stadium.

In 1995, the fund raising process began and in 1996, they held their first performance under lights in a stadium that holds 17,000 people. Since then, they have raise enough money to turn add on and build the Salinas Sports Complex with a softball field and more.

One thing that makes California Rodeo Salinas unique is that their track and arena run at the same time. Salinas has two announcers and each announcer focuses on a specific event that coincide with each other, those announcers are Will Rasmussen and Wayne Brooks.

The Hall of Fame in Salinas has turned into a lifelong tradition that highlights not only committee members but community members that give something to the California Rodeo Salinas.

They work to improve their show and bring the best every year but one thing that they always keep in mind at Salinas is tradition.
