After a disappointing 72 on his first ride in Reno, two-time World Champion came through in a big way in Round 2 with 89.5 points on Flying 5 Rodeo’s Spring Plantin. It upended Sage Newman’s Round 2 ride as the highest of the rodeo so far.
“That’s an amazing horse, been great for a long time, she’s 20-years-old and still bucks extremely hard, that’s impressive,” Thurston said.
Through five of eight Long Round performances, Thurston sits sixth in the Average and in position to advance to the Short Round. Stetson Wright leads with 173.5 points on two, 11.5 ahead of Thurston.
