The American Rodeo’s Tribute to Sharon Shoulders

During Saturday’s long round of The American Rodeo at AT&T Stadium, the rodeo, staff and athletes paid tribute to Sharon Shoulders, wife of 16X world champion Jim Shoulders and first lady of rodeo, who passed away January 30 at the age of 91.

As a tribute played on the jumbo screen with friends and family sharing their favorite memories of Sharon, every contestant placed a single white rose on one of her saddles at center stage.

Kendra Santos may have said it best on Facebook when she said “the booming thunder from the sky the morning of Sharon’s death was Jim and all of his buddies stampeding to the gates of heaven to welcome her.”
