Remembering Sharon Shoulders

The world of professional rodeo and the Western way of life lost one of its first ladies over the weekend.

Sharon Shoulders, the wife of 16-time World Champion Jim Shoulders, passed away on Saturday at age 91.

Sharon is a former leader of the Rodeo Historical Society, served on the board of the Oklahoma Historical Association and was heavily involved with First United Methodist Church in Henryetta. She also ran the ranch while Jim was away rodeoing.

Kendra Santos may have said it best on Facebook when she said the booming thunder from the sky the morning of Sharon’s death was Jim and all of his buddies stampeding to the gates of heaven to welcome her.

Pam Minnick and Dave Appleton joined Steve Kenyon to remember the life and legacy of Sharon Shoulders.
