Eli Lord and Curtis Cassidy both stopped the clock at 7.5 seconds Wednesday to lock in their spot in the semifinals at the Cheyenne Frontier Days.
Lord, a former champion at Cheyenne, says The Daddy of ‘Em All holds a special place in his heart.
“It’s a great experience, this rodeo has been one of my favorites for a long time. I came here with my dad since I was three or four and I’ve always loved it here.”
Cheyenne presents a unique layout for the steer wrestlers, something that Lord says can get in athletes’ heads if they are not careful.
“You do get a little bit more nervous here than anywhere else.”
The Top 4 cowboys from each day advance to Friday and Saturday’s Semifinal. J.D. Struxness and Rowdy Parrott will be joining Lord and Cassidy in the next round after stopping the clock at 7.7 seconds and 8.2 seconds respectively on Wednesday.
