After winning three straights rounds to start The Calgary Stampede earlier this month, Zeke Thurston kicked off Cheyenne Frontier Days with another Go-Round win.
Thurston had Andrews Rodeo’s Cracker Jack and was 87 points, the next closest competitors were 83.5.
“I think that was the third time I’ve drawn and finally got a score,” Thurston said. “I think he won the other two battles.”
Thurston has won two Gold Buckles, three Calgary Stampede Titles and just about every other major rodeo, but the Daddy of ‘Em All has always eluded him.
“I college rodeoed in this reason, all my family has,” he said. “We spend a lot of time in Wyoming and around Cheyenne and I love it, there’s nothing better than the Dad.”
The other Semifinal qualifiers from Saturday were Tanner Butner (83.5), Quintin Taylor (83.5), Kolby Wanchuk (82.5) and Chase Brooks (82.5).
At Cheyenne Frontier Days, there are six Long Round performances and the Top 4 in each continue on. The rodeo continues live on The Cowboy Channel and PRCA on Cowboy Channel+ through July 31.
