A total of six bareback riders were 84 points or better on Friday night, but only was in the 90s, and that was seven-time NFR qualifier Richmond Champion.
Champion was marked 90 on Fringe Jacket from J Bar J, a young horse that was competing at its first professional rodeo. It was the second 90 point ride of the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo this year, the other came from Cole Reiner in Bracket 2, Round 2.
Janie Johnson noted that Champion had a big smile on his face after his Go-Round win.
“I woke up with that smile when I found I had (Fringe Jacket),” he said. “He comes from great bloodlines and that’s everything you want out of a bareback horse.”
Chad Rutherford, Cole Franks and Kody Lamb also qualified for the Finals on Friday.
