Ty Harris Leads Round 2, Taylor Santos Leads the Average in Tie-Down Roping at National Western

Through two performances at the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo, 2021 NFR qualifiers Ty Harris and Taylor Santos have been the standouts.

Harris tied one in 7.9 seconds on Friday afternoon to win the performance, but Santos still has the lead in the Average.

“I’m really excited about the horse I bought, Spiderman,” Harris said. “I’m just excited to be here.....I’m just hoping to enjoy every minute of it and hopefully I win some money along the way.”

Santos was 8.1 seconds on his first run and 8.7 seconds on his second to lead the Average with an aggregate time of 16.8. Trevor Hale is currently second in the Average and Harris is third.

At the National Western, every cowboy competes in consecutive performances with the Top 24 in the Average in each event moving on to a tournament-style semifinal. So far, six tie-down ropers have two qualified runs.
