Rusty Wright after an emotional win in Puyallup

Saddle bronc rider Rusty Wright has mostly had a season to forget, which is why a big win in Puyallup over the weekend was extra special to him.

“This means a lot, I’ve kind of been struggling, I’m just super pumped,” he said.

Wright, a five-time NFR qualifier, entered the rodeo No. 35 in the PRCA Saddle Bronc Riding World Standings. He said he’d been working with his dad, Cody, on the mental side of his riding and it showed as he was 87 points in the Long Round and 88 in the Short Round.

He defeated his brother Stetson, who finished second, by 3.5 points, moving Rusty up to No. 29 in the World Standings.
