The Guymon Pioneer Days was the first noteworthy win of Shane Hanchey’s professional career when he was 18-years-old.
Thirteen years and 11 NFR qualifications later, he was the top cowboy in the tie-down roping in the Oklahoma panhandle once again.
“For whatever reason, I’ve always had good luck (in Guymon),” he said. “Just goes to show you what kind of committee and stock contractors put it on to let permit guys get over here and get a chance to rub elbows with the big names and I was just one of those guys in 2008 and now I’m right here.”
Hanchey had runs of 9.3, 8.7 and 9.6 seconds to win the Aggregate by nine-tenths of a second over Ryan Jarrett.
Hanchey earned nearly $10,000 over the weekend to re-take the No. 1 spot in the world over Tuf Cooper.
