The final Super Series wrapped up at RodeoHouston and Wednesday and Thursday’s Semifinals are officially set.
In Super Series V, a rookie bareback rider continued his sensational season, a pair of 2022 NFR saddle bronc riders were as even as can be and a talented quartet advanced out of the tie-down roping.
Keenan Hayes has been on a mission to prove his record-setting permit year was no fluke in the bareback riding. The 20-year-old rookie won 2-of-3 rounds in his RodeoHouston debut and has a chance to reclaim the No. 1 ranking from Rocker Steiner.
In saddle bronc riding, Layton Green and Sage Newman split the Super Series almost as evenly as you can. Green took Round 1, Newman won Round 2 and they shared Round 3. Green ultimately won the Super Series with $6,500 to Newman’s $5,750.
Tie-down roping was a battle between three incredibly talented cowboys all 24 or younger and the 2023 San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo Champion. 2020 World Champion Shad Mayfield was first in the pool followed by reigning Resistol Rookie of the Year Riley Webb. In third was four-time NFR qualifier Ty Harris and the final spot went to Riley Pruitt fresh off his $15,000 win at the AT&T Center.
The other Super Series V champions were Riley Duvall in steer wrestling ($5,000), Paul David Tierney/Tanner Braden in team roping ($8,000), Molly Otto in barrel racing ($7,500), Jared Parsonage in bull riding ($4,000) and Jordan Jo Hollabaugh in breakaway roping ($5,750).
