Kristina Barnes Gives Insight into the Upcoming Events at The Calgary Stampede

The Calgary Stampede kicks off Friday, July 8 in Alberta, Canada and Kristina Barnes joins us on Western Sports Roundup to give more details on the event.

Kristina Barnes is the Manager of Agriculture and Western Events for the Calgary Stampede and says she is excited to be building a full stampede this year after adjusting to modifications made in previous years due to COVID restrictions.

In addition to the rodeo the agricultural side of the Calgary Stampede draws a large crowd each year with events including Cowboy Up Competitions, Six-Horse Hitch and more.

“The whole city embraces it and that’s what’s different about Calgary,” Barnes said.

For the first time in Calgary Stampede history team roping will be included as an event and is said to be, “Canada’s richest single day of team roping.”

The Calgary Stampede will take place July 8 – July 17 and will include rodeo action, chuck wagons, concerts and much more.
