Jordon Briggs has not slowed down since winning her first World Championship in December. She has now won the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo and RodeoHouston in 2022.
In the Shootout, she and her horse Rollo dashed to a time of 14.33 seconds, the fastest of the entire rodeo.
“He’s just amazing, he’s so consistent and solid, he loves his job, I can’t believe he came and made that run two times in a row for me,” Briggs said of Rollo. “He gets a big break.”
All six of Briggs’ runs in Houston were faster than 15 seconds and she won four of those six rounds. The only two she did not win, she placed second.
In total, she earned $60,000 and has opened a healthy lead in the WPRA Barrel Racing World Standings. Three-time World Champion Hailey Kinsel is about $37,000 behind Briggs, but the next closest cowgirl, Wenda Johnson, is more than $50,000 behind.
