Anna Callaway Goes 3.5 Seconds to Move to Semifinals in Cheyenne

It was a tough day of roping in Cheyenne for the breakaway ropers, but Anna Callaway posted a clean run and stopped the clock at 3.5 seconds to take the day. It was a run she had been dreaming of for a long time.

“It takes a lot of practice and I am just glad it all worked out today.”

Cheyenne presents a unique challenge to ropers, giving the calf a 30-foot head start instead of the traditional 10. Callaway knew she had to be fast, and thought she may have been a little too fast out of the box.

“I was very worried, I thought I went too soon, but it worked out.”

Callaway earned over $2,000 for the win, but more importantly will head to the Semifinals in Cheyenne.

The other Semifinal qualifiers from the performance were Ashley Goforth (6.5 seconds), Macy Young (14.1), Sara Montgomery (15.2).
