Zeke Thurston Lands Third Hardgrass Bronc Match Title after Matchup with Blasting Sands

Canada’s Zeke Thurston showed once again why he is a four-time World Champion.

Zeke Thurston would find himself in the Winner’s Circle of the Hardgrass Bronc Match after two rides that when combined, topped the leaderboard.

In the Long Round, Thurston made an 87-point ride that advanced him on to the Short Go. When it came time to pick his horse, Thurston decided to try on a bareback horse and selected Blasting Sand.

“Coming into the middle I knew I was going to need something that was going to have a little electricity, a little wow factor and there’s some of those barebacks in there and we’ve seen that one lots and she’s been in the bronc riding before she I figured I’d try her on. I didn’t expect that much wow factor but dang sure bucked and powered through,” Thurston said.

Thurston has won the Hardgrass bronc match two other times in his career and in true Thurston fashion, he did it again. He is the No. 6 saddle bronc rider in the World after adding $10,000 to his earnings in Alberta.
