The 2023 season of breakaway roping has already brought record setting runs and tough competition to the forefront of professional rodeo. With Rodeo Austin adding breakaway roping to its list of events for the first time, history is still being made by the women of this sport

No. 1 Hali Williams, $90,224

Williams is fresh off her rookie year and she is on fire having pulled checks at ever major winter rodeo. Her biggest career win yet came at RodeoHouston. Winning the Second Round of her Super Series, Williams earned a spot in the Semifinals and from there went on to the Championship Shootout. A 3.6-second run would prove to be worth the $50,000 prize at one of the largest rodeos of the year.

No. 7 Sarah Angelone, $27,759

Angelone’s season kicked off with success in Fort Worth and it has continued at both RodeoHouston and Rodeo Austin. Angelone earned $6,000 in her Super Series of RodeoHouston after winning two rounds. She went on to add another $2,000 to her earnings in the Semifinals. At Rodeo Austin, the Texas roper was consistent with a 2.6 and a 2.7 that combined, earned her over $4,000.

No. 9 Sawyer Gilbert, $22,919

With one Gold Buckle to her name, Gilbert is gunning for another. It has been a slow winter for the South Dakota cowgirl but she caught a break at Rodeo Austin. A 3.6 in the Long Round brought her back to the Semifinals before she went on to rope her fastest time of the rodeo, a 2.2, to win it all by three tenths of a second. She added over $10,000 with this win to push her into the Top 10.
