WPRA Breakaway Roping Standings, Aug. 15: Hali Williams Reclaims No. 1 Position As Rickie Engesser Moves into Top 15

The ladies in the breakaway roping remain steady in their positions within the WPRA World Standings as money continues to be earned with very little shifts being made throughout the Top 20.

Shelby Boisjoli briefly claimed the top spot over RodeoHouston Champion Hali Williams, however Williams shortly recaptured her placement at No. 1 as she now leads by over $7,600. Other cowgirls have also exchanged places in the standings, such as Cheyanne Guillory and Joey Williams, who have consistently alternated between the No. 6 and No. 7 position over the past three weeks.

No. 1 Hali Williams, $121,803

In the past 10 days, Hali Williams has shown more consistency than any other point in the seaso as she has accumulated over $14,500 in winnings. Among her numerous victories, Williams shared the top spot with the next best cowgirl Shelby Boisjoli at the Cascade Breakaway Roping (Montana). Williams also took home the win at the Missoula Breakaway Roping (Montana) and Jerome County Fair and Rodeo (Idaho) while pulling a check at an additional five events.

No. 2 Shelby Boisjoli, $114,179

Shelby Boisjoli is in the midst of her most lucrative season of her career. She cinched the win at the San Antonio Rodeo early in the year as well as the Reno Rodeo while continuing her success throughout the remainder of the summer. One of Boisjoli’s most recent victories at the Dodge City Roundup (Kansas) which secured the cowgirl a check for $5,957. Within the past week, Boisjoli has earned over $7,300 as she pulled checks from a trio of Montana rodeos - Bozeman, Missoula and Cascade.

No. 6 Joey Williams, $76,311

Joey Williams has alternated back and forth between the No. 6 and No. 7 spot in the World Standings and is currently positioned just outside of the Top 5 with $76,311 in earnings. Over the past two weeks, Williams stayed close to home as she traveled through her native state of Montana where she has pulled a check in Cascade, Glasgow and Chinook.

No. 12 Rickie Engesser, $54,042

In contrast to the remaining cowgirls within the Top 20, Rickie Engesser made a significant move in the World Standings as she progressed from No. 19 to No. 12 in the span of just two weeks. Engesser notched the title at the Logan Breakaway Roping (Utah) with a 1.8-second run just four days after claiming the win in Ashley, North Dakota. Engesser has earned more than $15,000 over the past ten days as she continued to pull multiple checks from all over the country including Hermiston, Bozeman and Chinook.
