Wacey Schalla Claims His First Calgary Stampede Bronze and Moves to No. 1 in the World

Wacey Schalla makes the eight on Showdown Sunday to win it all.

Wacey Schalla’s trip to the Calgary Stampede started with a businessman’s decision in Round 3 to keep his 65-point score on the board, decline the reride, and go into the Semifinals as the No. 3 cowboy from Pool C.

Schalla scored 89 points in the Semifinals to get Showdown Sunday started right. He was aboard the Calgary Stampede’s Dark Mark to be inside the Top 3 and advance to the round that would decide it all.

Wayne Vold Rodeo’s Haunted Hotel was his pick for the Showdown Round, and Schalla would be the only cowboy to make the whistle.

“This is the most excited I’ve ever been at any type of bull riding, so I’m just blessed and happy to be here. I just want to say thanks to my parents and Cody Custer, and all the people that have had a big impact in my career. Today is a reason that I thank them,” Schalla said.

The 86 points would be worthy of the iconic Calgary Stampede Bronze. Schalla adds over $62,000 to his earnings to take over the No. 1 spot in the PRCA World Standings from eight-time World Champion Stetson Wright.
