Tie-Down Roper Tuf Cooper Smokes a Run to Get Pool B Round 1 Win in Calgary

The tie-down roping of Pool B at the Calgary Stampede is loaded with talent but it was four-time World Champion Tuf Cooper who came out on top in Round 1 with a time of 7.2 seconds.

Cooper told his father, tie-down roping icon Roy Cooper, if he won the first round he would fly him up to Canada from Texas.

“All glory and honor to God for that run, that was a lot of fun. Sup, pack your bags, baby,” Cooper said.

Cooper is already a two-time Calgary Stampede Champion and a soon-to-be girl dad.

“You know, I’ve been here many a times but you still get butterflies the first day. I’m going to be a first-time dad here in a few months, we’re so fortunate and glad that my wife is up here and everything is going great for us,” Cooper said.

Cooper earned the $5,500 for winning the round and there are three more rounds to go for Pool B that can be any ropers game.
