Tie-Down Roper John Douch Turns in a Pair of 7.7s to Win RodeoHouston

Seven was John Douch’s lucky number on Saturday afternoon.

Wearing Back No. 77 at RodeoHouston, the Texas native was 7.7 seconds in both the Championship Round and the Championship Shootout to win the prestigious buckle and over $57,000 toward the PRCA World Standings, enough to put him No. 1.

“I got a great start and Joe (Beaver) always tell me to keep my calfs up and finish on the ground,” Douch said. “I was just so happy (after I win).”

Douch was the last man out in the Shootout and bested Tuf Cooper’s 8.2 second run. Cooper is now No. 2 in the PRCA World Standings.
