World No. 1 Jess Pope Rides Yippee Kibbitz for 90 to Win Farm-City Pro Rodeo

The Top 3 bareback riders in the PRCA World Standings all competed at the Farm-City Pro Rodeo on Saturday night and No. 1 Jess Pope not only bested Cole Reiner and Tim O’Connell, he bested everyone at the rodeo.

Pope won with authority by riding Calgary Stampede’s Yippee Kibbitz for 90 points, it was his first time on the legendary horse.

“That’s a really good horse, they’ve won a lot of money and a lot of rodeos on her, I was really excited to have her,” he said. “Thought I coulda rode her just a tick better, but she showed up and it really fun.”

The bareback riding was competitive in Hermiston as cowboys needed to ride for at least 85 points to cash a check. Pope won over $6,600 for his first place finish.
