The barrel racing record at the Cheyenne Frontier Days was standing for 26 years until Summer Kosel and her eight-year-old gelding, Apollo, broke it during slack by just one-hundredth of a second.

Kristie Peterson and Bozo set the record with a 17.03 in 1996 and Kosel stopped the clock at 17.02 to make history at the iconic Daddy of ‘em all.

The run was the fastest of the Qualifying Round in Cheyenne. She earned a payday of more than $5,000 and is now inside the Top 50 of the WPRA World Standings.

Afterward, she took to social media to express her gratitude.
