Will Lummus has been to the last four NFRs and now after a win at The Calgary Stampede, he has another realistic opportunity at a Gold Buckle.
Lummus was 3.6 in the Championship Showdown on Sunday after winning the 10-Man Semifinals earlier that same day.
“I’ve got so many people to thank. My wife’s at home and allowing me to do this, my mom and dad and my uncle pushing me to do this and last but definitely not least, my traveling partners,” he said. “Ty Erickson was winning first right there and he was the first guy to give me a hug, it means a lot.”
With the win, Lummus has shot up the PRCA Steer Wrestling World Standings from No. 12 to No. 2 in less than two weeks. He is now within $4,000 of No. 1 Hunter Cure after trailing by nearly $40,000 on July 6.
Lummus has finished in the Top 5 in three of the last four years including a second place finish last year. This season, his qualified time percentage has improved from 73 percent to 87 percent and he has won 14 Go-Rounds compared to 13 a year ago.
