Cody Cabral is your Timed Event Athlete of the week after a great weekend of rodeo at the Silver State Stampede and Cheney Rodeo.
Not only did Cabral get two wins on the weekend, but he did so in record-breaking fashion. Cabral’s first win of the weekend came at the Silver State Stampede in Elko, Nevada where he earned $3,661. Cabral was one of the final cowboys to compete at the rodeo and his 3.5 second run set a new arena record at Nevada’s oldest rodeo. The 3.5 second run edged out four other cowboys who stopped the clock at 3.6 seconds.
After his run, Cabral told ProRodeo.com that he wasn’t sure if he made it out.
“I miraculously got out,” he joked. “I guess I pushed it as far as you could. Even when I got up, I wasn’t sure if I’d gotten out. I drew a good steer and was able to do my job.”
Cabral wasn’t done after his record-setting performance. He also traveled up to Cheney, Washington last weekend and he won the rodeo there to earne another $1,946.
Cabral currently sits at 40th in the PRCA World Standings but is only $14,000 out of 15th place.
